Golz (2004 m) via the Radniger Alm

This tour is strenuous due to the difference in altitude of 1300 metres, but it is not technically difficult, there are no exposed sections, but there is a very beautiful panoramic view and a seating area at the summit of the Golz, so comfort is guaranteed. From there, the Weißensee lies at the climber's feet. The Radniger Alm is usually open in summer. An official mountain bike trail leads from Radnig up to it. Important: The gates must be closed.
Suggestion
From the Golz you have a wonderful view of the Gitsch and Gail valleys and Lake Weissensee.
Equipment
Normal hiking equipment with good footwear.
Directions
From Villach:
From the A2 south motorway, take the Hermagor exit and continue on the B111 to Hermagor. In Hermagor, turn off in the direction of Radnig (towards the hospital and then keep going).

In Radnig, turn left after the small bridge to the Radnig natural swimming pool.

Directions

From Radniger Badl we head north, a short stretch on tarmac, then along the stream past an old mill on gravel. After approx. 300 metres, hiking trail no. 246 branches off to the right. This follows the old alpine path and leads almost exclusively through forest on old paths and tracks, crossing the goods road several times. After about 1 1/2 hours we reach the so-called Gallen Stall, a small clearing with a well, 1220 metres above sea level. A little further through the forest and back to the goods road, which we follow to the Radniger Alm (1550 m) - approx. 1 hour. We hike a few more steps northwards to the Radniger Sattel and then branch off to the left, from where the path leads us through mountain forest and mountain pines to the Golz in around 1 ¼ hours. The view is outstanding and tired limbs can rest on the seating next to the summit cross.

Descent option 1: (This option is marked on the map!)
The descent is the same as the ascent.

Descent option 2:
From the Radniger Alm, instead of climbing the Golz, you can walk down to the Hermagorer Bodenalm via path 246 in approx. ¾ h (path partly steep) and then hike on path 27 to the Weißensee. From the Radniger Alm to the Weißensee it takes about 2 hours in total. Return journey by bus - check the timetable!
